Outreach
Ministry
"Then the righteous will
answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or
thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a
stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?"
Matthew 25:37-38 NIV

Kokomo Rescue Mission Experiences
Rising Needs in Outreach Ministry in 2009:
Food for the Hungry
In spite of
record numbers served in 2008, since January there has been another
14% rise in the number of meals served. See a graphic representation of these numbers. KRMs
dining room is open to the public, serving free meals twice daily.
A hot breakfast is also served for all shelter guests.
In 2008, 121,501 free meals were served. Grocery
boxes are available for families unable to come to the mission to
eat. KRM helped 3,945 people with groceries in 2008.
Clinton County Ministry of Hope
In April 2009 ,
KRM expanded its outreach in Clinton County by adding a second
site to serve a free supper weekly. Read more.
Family Assistance
Free clothing is available
through the Care and Share Store to any person whose income falls
below the federal poverty guidelines. Furniture, appliances and
household goods are given to families upon determination of need.
In 2008, KRM gave 47,445 pieces of clothing to needy
families.
Holiday Outreach
KRM's
Great Thanksgiving Banquet expanded to SEVEN locations in 2008.
In Frankfort, for the second year, a banquet was served on
Tuesday evening at the Paul Phillippe Center. On Wednesday
evening, in partnership with Kokomo Urban Outreach, banquets were
served at five locations. On Thanksgiving Day, the traditional
meal was served at Grace United Methodist Church. A total of 1,595
meals were served.
In 2008, the RED RIBBON
CHRISTMAS OUTREACH provided 3,440 people throughout a six-county
area with food and gifts. Volunteers wrapped presents and filled
the boxes with toys, gifts and food. Just before Christmas,
volunteers delivered the RED RIBBON boxes to each family.
