Ways to Give

There are many ways to support the Mission and help the individuals and families we serve throughout North Central Indiana, from donating to or shopping at our thrift stores to remembering us in your prayers. However you’re able to help, we thank God for you!

Three of the most effective ways to help our neighbors in need are to volunteer at the Mission, take part in our special events, and support the Mission financially.

Need a receipt for tax purposes?

If you would like to receive a receipt for tax purposes, please print and complete the Estimated Valuation Guide. If you would like to keep a copy, please print two and our driver will sign them at the time of pick-up.

Don’t forget to get your receipt signed when you make your donation. We will not be able to validate donations by signing forms sent in later!

*If you itemize deductions on your federal tax return, you may be entitled to claim a charitable deduction for your Kokomo Rescue Mission donations. According to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), a taxpayer can deduct the fair market value of clothing, household goods, used furniture, shoes, books and so forth. Fair market value is the price a willing buyer would pay for them. Value usually depends on the condition of the item. By law, a charity cannot tell you what your donated items are worth. We have provided the estimated valuation form to help you determine the value of your items.

Give Essentials

Your generous donations of food, cleaning & hygiene products, and other household items saves money that we can then devote to our other life-changing ministries. We’re very grateful to the individuals, families, churches, businesses, and others that choose to support our work in this way.

Assets, Charitable Fund, & Legacy Giving

What will your legacy be?

We will all leave a legacy, something that will be valued and treasured by the next generation. Our legacy will reflect on those things we’ve learned over the course of our lives. It’s our personal story; our accomplishments, beliefs, actions, and guidance given over the years. Consider how your legacy can live on by making a financial gift to the Kokomo Rescue Mission. Your gift will help to provide years of support for “the least of these.” To learn more about the impact your legacy can make, click here to read some of our Resident Stories.

Do you have a will or revocable living trust? Have you included the Kokomo Rescue Mission in your estate plan? Your gift provides you with an extraordinary opportunity to support the work of the Mission both now and for generations to come. Your gift will create a lasting legacy of support to reach homeless, hungry and hurting people in our community, and share with them God’s love and mercy.

We have been investing in the the community since 1953. We have been there for our neighbors and will be here for them in the future, with your help. We hope this information will be inspirational and motivational and offer insight to how you can leave a legacy. Please keep in mind that your personal circumstances need to be considered before taking action. As with all tax and estate planning, please consult your attorney or estate specialist.

Donor Directed Funds (DAF)

FreeWill’s DAF tool integrates with your DAF custodian automatically, and saves you the extra step of notifying us about your gift. By using the link below, you can:

  • Recommend how you’d like your grant to be allocated
  • Communicate your wishes to Kokomo Rescue Mission
  • Share the details of your DAF grant
  • Make your grant recommendation

Using this tool to gift from your DAF also saves us a lot of time, so thank you! It’s also a great way to ensure we have consistent financial support while saving cash for immediate needs.

Wills, Trusts, Estates

A Will or a Trust is a personal document that ensures that your finances and property will be allocated to care for loved ones in specific ways. You can also use your Will or Trust to make charitable donations. Along with providing for your beneficiaries, you can also leave a particular asset, a specific amount of money, a percentage of your estate, or the remainder of your estate to a charitable organization like the Kokomo Rescue Mission.

To help you get started on your plans and legacy, you can use FreeWill, an online tool that guides you through the process of creating a legally valid will or trust. It’s easy to use, accessible online and can be completed in 20 minutes. You can use this resource on its own or use it to document your wishes before finalizing your plans with an attorney.

If you are interested in naming the Kokomo Rescue Mission as a beneficiary in your Will, Trust or Estate-planning instrument, your attorney will find the following information valuable:

Kokomo Rescue Mission
P.O. Box 476
Kokomo, IN 46903-0476
We are a 501(c)(3) organization incorporated in the state of Indiana.
Tax ID: 35-1104430
If you have included the Kokomo Rescue Mission in your Will, please complete this form.

Beneficiary Designation

Sometimes situations in life can alter your life insurance and retirement plan needs. These changes could play a major role in your charitable giving. If the Mission is the primary beneficiary, we would receive the proceeds first. If we were a secondary beneficiary, we would receive proceeds only if the primary beneficiary cannot.

Use this online tool to make your plans and designate us as a beneficiary of one or more of these assets.

Charitable Gift Annuity

When making a gift to Kokomo Rescue Mission in exchange for a Charitable Gift Annuity, you can defer Capital Gains tax and provide you with an immediate tax deduction. Below are benefits you’ll receive:

  • An immediate tax deduction on a large portion of the gift;
  • Capital gains tax deferral;
  • If you donate appreciated securities, you won’t owe capital gains tax when you make the transfer either;
  • And increased income stream for life.

Give from Your IRA

If you are 70.5 or older, giving from your IRA helps reduce your taxable income — and for those over 73 who must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), an IRA gift is a simple way to fulfill it! We have invested in a secure IRA donation tool to make it easier than ever to give from your IRA, and receive tax benefits. It only takes a few minutes to use, and will auto-complete your paperwork for you.

Please note: When you donate from your IRA, please use the link below so we can track your gift and send you the right receipt, and you can get the tax savings you deserve.

Donate Stock

Donating stocks allows you to avoid capital gains tax and often take a charitable deduction for the full value of the asset. We have invested in this secure stock donation tool to make it easier than ever.

Please note: When you donate stock, please use the link below so we can track your gift, send you the correct receipt, and you can get the tax savings you deserve.

If you would prefer to make your donation through your broker, access our transfer information from the link below to notify Kokomo Rescue Mission of your gift.

Donate Crypto

We now accept donations of Etherum, Bitcoin, and other cryptocurrencies! This gives us one more way to fund our work and can provide you with extra tax benefits.

Thank you for supporting the Kokomo Rescue Mission

You are making an impact on the homeless, hungry and hurting people in our community. We simply could not do this life saving work without your generous support.
